 Asia Brown Boveri (ABB) has had a long established relationship with Aboitiz Projects TS Corp with regards to its various transport requirements – with particular emphasis on ABB transformer movements – in the Philippines The same can be said with ABB offices overseas, with APTSC’s joint-venture partner Hansa Meyer Global Transport ably serving ABB requirements worldwide. For this project, ABB Philippines tendered out the bid for the following scope of works: Ocean Freight of 1 x 88 tons transformer + 500 cbm accessories ex Thailand to Manila Customs Clearance – brokerage services Ship side receiving via barge operation Barge transport ex Manila to Zamboanga Inland transport from Zamboanga jetty to Pitogo Zamboanga TRANSCO site Unloading of general cargoes Unloading – spotting of transformer to foundation ABB initially invited six forwarders to submit their proposals. After a series of consultations with each bidder, APTSC was amongst the top two candidates short-listed by ABB for the final round of bidding. During the final round of bidding, a contentious battle between the two tenderers was fought on matters of commercial and operational concerns, with both sides pressing their points to strongly. At the end the bid exercise, ABB decisively awarded the project to APTSC. Despite having the higher bid price, APTSC’s past record of proven performance, safety record, sound methodology, client relationship carried the day. |
